Firebird V1.5.x Downloads

Documentation

The V1.5 release of Firebird represents a major upgrade to the V1.0 database engine, which has been developed by an independent team of voluntary developers from the original InterBase source code that was released by Borland under the InterBase Public License on 25th July 2000.

Development on the Firebird 2 codebase began early on during the Firebird V1.0 development process, with the porting of the Firebird 1.0 C code to C++ and the first major steps at code clean up. Firebird V1.5 is the first release of the Firebird 2 codebase and represents a significant milestone for the developers and the whole Firebird project.

There are many new features and bugs fixed and the list of major changes beyond the original V1.0 version is quite long. Please read all the Release Notes for relevant information.

  • The embedded server is a fully functional server linked as a dynamic library (fbembed.dll). It has exactly the same features as the usual server and exports the standard Firebird API entrypoints.
  • Firebird Superserver has a link-time backward compatibility issue with the NPTL (Native POSIX Thread Library) that may cause it to be unstable on Linux distributions that enable the NPTL in the GNU C library, e.g. Red Hat 9, Mandrake 10 and Fedora Core. The NPTL builds of Superserver should solve these problems.

SuperServer for Linux i686 (32bit) (NPTL)

DO NOT USE IF YOUR KERNEL DOES NOT SUPPORT NPTL THREADING !! To test, run the command "getconf GNU_LIBPTHREAD_VERSION". If it doesn't return something like "NPTL 2.n.n" but something like "linuxthreads-0.nn" then you must use the kit for the old threading model.
